The Free-Writing Intensive was first introduced at the Iowa Summer Writing Festival, and subsequently at writing programs and conferences around the country. Perfect for all levels and genres, the workshop focuses on the essential, though seldom-taught practice of free-writing, employing unique and counter-intuitive techniques to:

•help us get out of ruts and old patterns
•generate an enormous amount of new material
•combat “writer’s block”
•stay productive outside of workshops

An often exhilarating experience, the Free-Writing Intensive can be like a cracking open of reality. Writers learn, rather quickly, to let go of habits they once thought were embedded in their DNA.

Morning Session: 9am-12noon
Lunch Break (on your own)
Afternoon Session: 1:30-4pm
